3.4%. That is the consensus for UK inflation in September, against 3.1% in August, and it lands on Wednesday 21 October at 06:00 UTC. This week ahead forex calendar for 19 to 23 October 2026 is an inflation week without a Federal Reserve: Canada prints CPI on Monday, the United Kingdom on Wednesday, Japan on Thursday night, and the flash PMIs close the week on Friday. The Fed is silent: its blackout before the 27 and 28 October meeting runs from Saturday 17 to Thursday 29 October.
A week ahead is a short list of scheduled releases, the previous print for each, and the consensus where a poll exists. It tells you when volatility is scheduled, not where price will go. Three numbers frame this list: UK CPI at 3.1%, Canadian CPI at 3.0%, Japanese CPI at 1.9%. The previous week ahead covered a US CPI that printed 3.7%.

3.0%
Canada CPI, August y/y

What will the UK CPI September 2026 report show on Wednesday?
The August report put UK inflation at 3.1% on the year and 0.5% on the month, up from 2.9% in July. Core was 2.6% and services 3.4%, both unchanged. Transport did the work: petrol rose 9.1p to 161.3p a litre, and motor fuels were 23.0% higher than a year earlier.
The September consensus is 3.4% headline and 2.7% core. The Bank of England staff forecast for the month, cited by Newsquawk, is 3.0%. That gap is the release. A print at the consensus would be the highest in nine months, two weeks before the Bank's November decision. Governor Bailey speaks the same day.
Why does Canada CPI matter on a Monday?
Canada opens the week. August CPI was 3.0% on the year, unchanged from July, and down 0.1% on the month; excluding gasoline, prices rose 2.4%. The September consensus is 3.2%. The Bank of Canada held its rate at 2.25% on 2 September and decides again on 28 October, nine days after this print.
12:30 UTC on a Monday is a quiet slot with no US release alongside it, so USD/CAD carries the whole reaction.
What do Japan CPI and the flash PMI October 2026 add on Friday?
Japan's August CPI was 1.9% on the year, with core, excluding fresh food, at 1.7%, a seventh month below the Bank of Japan's 2% target. The September consensus is 2.3% headline and 2.1% core. The release is at 23:30 UTC on Thursday, 01:30 in Paris. The Bank of Japan meets on 29 and 30 October.
Friday is the flash PMI round. The euro area composite was 53.1 in September, a three-and-a-half-year high; the October consensus is 52.8 for both manufacturing and services. The US composite was 58.4, with manufacturing at 55.9 and services at 58.8; the consensus is 55.6 and 57.9. The chain runs from Japan at 00:30 UTC to the United States at 13:45 UTC. Moody's review of France, rated Aa3 with a negative outlook, closes the week.
What does the China GDP Q3 2026 release change at 02:00 UTC?
China publishes third-quarter GDP and the September activity data at 02:00 UTC on Monday. The second quarter grew 4.3% on the year and 0.9% on the quarter; the consensus for the third quarter is 4.4% and 1.1%. The loan prime rates follow on Tuesday at 3.00% and 3.50%, expected unchanged for a 17th month. The channel is AUD and NZD in the Asian session.
What it means for your sessions
Three things change this week. First, no Fed voice: the blackout removes scheduled speeches from the European afternoon, and the data carries the week alone. Second, three single-currency inflation prints at off-peak times: Canada at 12:30 UTC on a Monday, the UK at 06:00 UTC, Japan at 23:30 UTC. Each hits one pair while the rest of the board is quiet, and a stop in that pair is filled in a one-sided market. Third, a Friday chain: six flash PMIs between 00:30 and 13:45 UTC, plus a rating decision after the close, widen the spread in EUR and GBP pairs several times in one session.
None of this tells you where sterling will trade after 06:00 on Wednesday. It tells you when your broker's spread widens. Your best trading hours move when the volatility moves. Your drawdown decides how many of these prints you can afford to be on the wrong side of.
What your journal would show
Illustrative demo data. A trader takes 84 trades over the last six UK CPI weeks. On the six CPI Wednesdays, 17 trades in GBP pairs average -0.22R; 11 of the 17 were opened between 05:45 and 06:15 UTC, and 8 of those 11 closed at the stop within twenty minutes of the release. On the other days, 67 trades average 0.09R. On four Friday PMI chains, 9 EUR trades opened between 07:15 and 08:30 UTC averaged -0.14R on a spread 1.6 times the weekly median.
That is not a rule about UK CPI or about Fridays. It is a pattern in one account. A read-only journal that imports your closed trades from cTrader or MetaTrader and stamps each one with the time and the R-multiple makes the pattern visible without tagging. Socius Trades reads your executed trades and shows results by hour, by day and by instrument; it never places or modifies a trade. Plans start with a free tier, and the Essential plan has a 14-day trial, listed on the pricing page. The same view would show whether a stop at 06:03 UTC was followed by a larger GBP position at 06:20, the revenge trading signature.
